Obama praises Master Lock “in sourcing” during State of the Union Address and 100 Jobs

Oil Rig Jobs -During his State of the Union address Tuesday night President Barack Obama highlighted Oak Creek-based Master Lock Co. for bringing back 100 jobs from China to its Milwaukee factory.

“We can’t bring every job back that’s left our shore,” Obama said. “But right now, it’s getting more expensive to do business in places like China. Meanwhile, America is more productive. A few weeks ago, the CEO of Master Lock told me that it now makes business sense for him to bring jobs back home. Today, for the first time in 15 years, Master Lock’s unionized plant in Milwaukee is running at full capacity. So we have a huge opportunity, at this moment, to bring manufacturing back.  But we have to seize it. Tonight, my message to business leaders is simple: Ask yourselves what you can do to bring jobs back to your country, and your country will do everything we can to help you succeed.”

Republicans were critical of Obama’s speech, saying his economic agenda has been a failure.
“The President’s speech may have focused on job creation and support for American businesses, but his Administration has been anything but friendly to the private sector,” said U.S. Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, R-Menomonee Falls. “In the last three years, our country has witnessed the longest period of sustained high unemployment since the Great Depression and three record-breaking deficits.”
Master Lock president and chief executive officer John Heppner said it was an honor for the company to be mentioned by Obama during his speech.

“We are honored to be mentioned by the President in such a traditional and time-honored event as the State of the Union address,” Heppner said. “As an American manufacturing company in business for approximately 90 years, we are proud to participate in the trend of ‘in sourcing’ jobs back to the U.S.”

The decision to bring these jobs back was partially motivated by economic reasons related to increasingly higher labor and logistics costs in Asia, and further, ongoing labor availability challenges especially in the coastal areas of China, the company said in a statement. The advantages of moving the jobs to Milwaukee include a more competitive overall cost structure, greater control and the ability to provide better service to customers in addition to the overall economic benefit to the company’s home state of Wisconsin.

According to Heppner, Master Lock would like to bring more jobs back from overseas should the underlying economics support the move.

Earlier this month, Heppner participated in the In sourcing American Jobs forum at the White House, in which he and other business leaders met with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to discuss the in sourcing trend and offer input on how to encourage businesses to invest in America.

During the forum, Hepper stressed two key challenges that he recommends government and business officials address to continue the in sourcing of jobs: Improve access to skilled labor in North America and innovate the supply chain structure in North America.

“The number of young people exposed to skilled labor trades through education or family and friends is declining while our current skilled labor workforce is aging,” Heppner said. “At Master Lock, we partner with trade schools and other educational institutions to help inspire young workers to choose careers in skilled labor. We encourage our government and other businesses to engage with these organizations and invest in training future generations in skilled Alberta oil careers."

Job fair draws 2,000 for Oil Rig Jobs

Oil Rig Jobs -Around 2,000 job seekers gathered Thursday afternoon in the MCM Grande Fun Dome for what was called the biggest job fair in West Texas.

From 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the Media Concepts Incorporated job fair featured 25 different companies, ranging from restaurant to convenience stores and oil Rig Jobs companies.

This gives people the chance to meet face-to-face with employers and gives them a better chance of getting in the door,” Business Development Manager Gloria Ybarra said.

The opportunity to “get in the door” appealed to Rene Renteria, a currently unemployed hazardous-material worker from El Paso.

“You can’t really get online for oilfield jobs, so I thought I’d come here to give it a shot,” he said.

He said he’d filled out an application or two throughout the day for hazardous-material-related positions with oil companies.

“There are other hazardous material jobs in El Paso, but none pay as well as they do here,” he said.

Wages for entry-level oilfield positions pay anywhere between $15 to $20 an hour, according to Employment Recruiter Erica Quinones of Key Energy Services.

Employers said they’ve received a mixture of applicants: from students and unemployed people to veterans and even some retirees.

Debbie Brock, who’s currently unemployed, taught biology in Andrews for two years before moving to Odessa in August.

”It makes a big difference to be able to meet employers here,” she said. “But I think competition here is high and people come from other areas to work in our oilfield-related jobs.”

Brock said she wanted to use her biology degree to work in an oil Field Jobs lab.

Human Resources Representative Dave MacIlroy said Stripes would be looking to open nine stores across West Texas within the next 18 months.

“We deliver a quality product, and there’s a demand for that,” he said. “Our stores employ anywhere from 15 to 30 or 35 employees.”

“I met some people who came to me during their lunch breaks wearing uniforms from where they work now,”

“People told me they’ve gotten a lot of cards and made good contacts and feel like they’ve reached a good starting point, Alberta oil Careers”.

243 People apply for 20 oil field jobs

243 People apply for 20 oil field jobs

Oil Rig Jobs -With 20 jobs up for grabs to service oil and gas wells, 243 people applied for the work during a recruitment session Wednesday in The Employment Source in New Philadelphia.

By 7:30 a.m., job seekers formed a line that snaked around inside Monroe Center for the event scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. SOS Staffing conducted its second recruitment session for Schlumberger Ltd., a major oil field jobs service provider to oil and gas companies worldwide. A session in November attracted 125 applicants for 20 jobs.

“We’ve been told that the company is very pleased with the first group, who was hired in November,” said Monica Gwin, spokeswoman for The Employment Source. “The recruiters also told us they were very pleased with today’s session.”

Wednesday’s session was scheduled to end at 2 p.m., and no applications were accepted after that time. However, recruiters interviewed everyone, wrapping up by about 4:15 p.m.

Like many on Wednesday, he was drawn by the allure of earning $40,000 to $50,000 the first year of employment, plus benefits, as the Tuscarawas Valley region prepares for a drilling boom in the Marcellus and Utica Shale formations in the oil and natural-gas industry.

“It’s a great opportunity to make some good money,” Risley said, adding that the potential wages and benefits are what are being talked about “all over Carroll County” and the region.

Gwin was pleased that many job seekers responded to a story in Friday’s edition of The Alberta Oil Careers when she encouraged them to register with TES. She had explained that “it doesn’t advance your position if there’s a line of prospective employees, because recruitments are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.” It did save applicants time on Wednesday “because you have to fill out a form that is the same information that’s needed for our services. When you register with The Employment Source, you receive a membership card.”

Gwin added, “We give people the resource tools that they need to get the job they want.”
A few who didn’t have resumes on Wednesday were able to prepare them while waiting for an interview.

Prospective employees must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license and a GED or high school diploma. Other requirements were: a resume; be able to do repeated, heavy lifting of at least 50 to 100 pounds; work 60 to 80 hours a week; and undergo a criminal background check and drug test. Free on-the-job training and a complete benefits package will be provided to those who are hired.

Oil field workers often are expected to work 15 straight days and up to 80 hours per week, followed by six days off. Workers must be able to work outdoors and be willing to travel.

Gwin said some applicants had to be turned away because they didn’t meet the company’s age requirement of 21. “They were even certified in various skills,” she said.

Many of the job seekers came from Canton and Massillon. Some came from East Liverpool, while one man from Illinois used TES services Tuesday.

“It’s been a real cross-section of people,” Gwin said, adding that four women were among those applying. “I’m glad we were able to this large of turnout. We made sure we had extra staff here to accommodate what we anticipated would be large numbers.”

“All they’re recruiting for now is the oil field operators,” Gwin said, adding there should be opportunities in other areas later.

Schlumberger has indicated about 50 jobs will be administrative – including engineering, management or supervisory jobs. The other 200 jobs will be related to the drilling industry, such as drill-site operators and mechanics. Then Read more full Detail about Alberta Oil Careers.

Oil and gas meeting tonight in Sugarcreek Community Church

Oil Field Jobs -Area and state officials will discuss the impact the oil and gas boom will have on the Tuscarawas Valley’s drinking water and highways at an informational meeting 7 p.m. tonight at Valley View Community Church in Sugar creek.

The meeting, titled “Who’s protecting the public’s right, and how?” will feature representatives from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Department of Transportation, Dale Arnold from the Ohio Farm Bureau, Tuscarawas County Engineer Joe Bachman and state Rep. Al Landis, R-Dover. The event is hosted by the Sugarcreek Rotary Club.

Protecting the drinking water sources of all people is a pledge of Rotary,” said Rotarian Arnie Klaiber. “There needs to be a time and place for people to get real answers to their questions, and see who is protecting our water and our residents.”

There are concerns about the practices surrounding hydraulic fracturing, known as “fracking,” the chemicals used and their effect on the water sources, the processes followed, and the responsibility to repair and maintain roads that were not built for heavy truck traffic.

These concerns and many more may be addressed at the forum.

“I think it’s going to be a very informative meeting and helpful for the community,” Landis said. “It’s going to be a learning experience for the audience and those on the panel, also.”

The state representative has been attending other meetings to learn more about issues connected with the oil and gas industry, including a forum Tuesday in Youngstown on seismic activity in the Mahoning Valley which has been linked to a deep injection well there. The well is being used to dispose of industrial waste water from Pennsylvania used in the hydraulic fracturing process.

The event is free and open to the public. The church is located at 2772 Simons Dr.

Oil Field and Gas Jobs Increase by 75,000 Under Obama — 69,000 More Than Would Be Created By Keystone XL

Oil Rig Jobs -Around 75,000 jobs were created in the oil and gas sector under the Obama Administration between 2009 to 2011, according to analysis of data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That’s roughly 69,000 more jobs than would be created by construction of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.

The figures, reviewed by the Center for American Progress, show that overall employment in oil Rig and gas (extraction, field support, pipeline construction and shipping, and petroleum refineries) increased by 13% in the last two years.

The figures do not include categories such as gasoline stations, fuel dealers, asphalt paving, or lubrication production.
Oil Rig Jobs Oil Field and Gas Jobs Increase by 75,000 Under Obama — 69,000 More Than Would Be Created By Keystone XL

This strong increase in American fossil fuel jobs contradicts the arguments made by supporters of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, who have attacked the Obama Administration for denying the initial permit for the pipeline due to environmental concerns.

The oil and gas industry claims that Keystone XL will create up to 20,000 direct and indirect jobs. But more careful research of those jobs claims;analysis that is backed up by the State Department, Cornell University and TransCanada, the company building the pipeline;has shown that the number is closer to 6,000 jobs.

Armed with these inflated figures (which are still about 55,000 less than jobs created in the last two years), Keystone XL supporters have argued that the tar sands pipeline will be a panacea for job creation in America. In response to today’s news that the Obama Administration would reject the Keystone XL permit and ask TransCanada to file for another, Keystone supporters lined up to lambaste the President.

Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Donahue said it proves “that creating jobs is not a high priority for this administration.”

And Republican Presidential front-runner Mitt Romney laid it on thick: “If Americans want to understand why unemployment in the United States has been stuck above 8 percent for the longest stretch since the Great Depression, decisions like this one are the place to begin.”

But here’s the deep, dirty little secret not mentioned by fossil fuel champions who falsely claim the Administration is killing oil and gas jobs: Since Obama took office, oil production has increased substantially;with more drilling rigs being deployed in America today than at any time since the mid 1980′s.
Oil Rig Jobs Oil Field and Gas Jobs Increase by 75,000 Under Obama — 69,000 More Than Would Be Created By Keystone XL

This increase in production has already resulted in 12 times the jobs that would be created to build the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. Do you hear any mention of that from political candidates or the fossil fuel lobby? Absolutely not. And you never will.

Working committed the Oil Rig jobs

Oil Rig Jobs - For a  few hardy, industrious men a 2,000 foot high metal behemoth of a rig in the Gulf of Mexico is home; well two weeks out of every four, that is. They work, sleep and relax aboard the oil Rig Jobs, operated by Alberta oil Careers.

The Petrol is one of the most unbelievable of all the giant oil rig jobs scattered across the oceans of the world. The platform serves 14 different wells outputting millions of barrels of oil. At over 500 million dollars the Petrol is one of the most expensive offshore civil construction projects in the world
Oil Rig Jobs Working committed the Oil Rig jobs

Working aboard the rig is one the most risky jobs there are. Oil field jobs are usually dozens or hundreds of miles from land and bear the brunt of some of the harshest weather that Mother Nature unleashes. Rocked and rolled by waves, ripped at by gales and frozen by bitter cold - these are just some of the natural hazards an oil rig is subjected to. For the average rig worker the man-made dangers can be even more of a threat. Swinging cranes, the constant moving of heavy equipment, dangerous power tools which can rend a limb from a body in a second and being only a short drop from near certain death into an ocean seventy five meters below take more than a few lives each year.

So what attracts men to work far out at sea, living in restricted quarters of up to four to a room in one of the most risky jobs in the world? Well one thing is the money. On the Petrol salaries start at about $50k a year, which is a great starting salary for relatively unskilled work. Those with trade qualifications and skills, and those with several years of experience can command six figure salaries.

Another draw to oil rig jobs is the generous time off. Workers aboard the Petrol work a two weeks on, two weeks off schedule. This means that they typically work less than six months of the year and still earn a very competitive salary. While they are on board the Petronius the oil rig workers are also more than amply fed, noshing down on four hearty meals a day, all of which are included in their compensation package. Recreation facilities on the 'floating town' also include a gym and satellite TV to fill the few hours that the men are not hard at work. These oil rig jobs are tough, but they aren't without their own rewards.

Even though this work is noisy, in a remote location and the work conditions are high risk, employment aboard the Petrol and other oil platforms still has a huge draw for a certain kind of man. Tough, resilient, hardworking and perhaps slightly thrilled by the threat of danger there is a constant stream of hardy men applying for these jobs. Although they work hard aboard the rig, most of them more than make up for it in their time off. If you have ever seen a rig worker on his frequent leave, you will know that they know how to 'unwind' in style.

•    Do you go to recruitment agencies and submit your resume to the local employment board?

These are the places and methods 80% of the other hopefuls try and look for a job and if you do the same you will get the same results. If that is all you do and sit back waiting for someone to call you, you may wait a very long time. There is nothing wrong with these approach however in a concerned economy you need to be a bit more proactive.

Mistake 2 - Most People Looking For An Oil Rig Job Don't Want To Spend Money

If you don't have any knowledge you need to spend the time and money to look good, you need a professional written resume and cover sheet. If you already have years of skill in the oil fields then you can simply list the last 5 or so jobs you have done and that can be enough but without skill you had better spend some time and money to make a good impression.

What many people when starting out don't realize is that most of the big companies outsource their oil drilling to smaller specialized companies; unfortunately many of these smaller companies don't have websites making it hard to get your resume in front of the right person.

So what is the solution? The best way is to find a specialized company that will send your resume out to hundreds of oil companies at a time ensure to stack the odds in your favour, most charge around $100.

When the company you want to work for is headquartered in foreign country you cannot just fly there to fill out an application. Like many careers fields, the oil industry has been using some form of recruitment agency to fill the vacancies it has. Since many of the oil rig jobs are located abroad it makes it not practical for them to have an office in every country in the world to find skilled employees. At one time these companies placed ads in major newspapers or in some cases had recruiting fairs in major cities once a year to employ new workers.

Today, thanks to the Internet it is much easier for them to make use of online job finding services to fill the empty position. This is very important information and not something that most people can find by simple research as the oil companies do not list their openings elsewhere.

Since it is the job of the recruiting company to screen all applicants seeking oil rig jobs, this is your one opening to really shine. Many of them have an online form that you will have to fill out if you want to be careful. While you may still have to send in a resume at a later date, this is the one time that you need to really pay attention and fill out the form very carefully. Make sure that you show yourself in the best possible light if you want to be careful.

The online oil rig jobs finder services are your best chance of finding work in the oil industry today. While there are still plenty of jobs to be originate, the only way you are likely to find them is through one of these services. Some of them charge a fee to help you find a job and you will find that in most cases the fee will be well worth the high paying career that it will help you find. Working on the oil rigs can be a very financially satisfying career if you know how to go about getting started.

Oil Field Jobs -4 Main Problems with Oil Field & Oil Rig Employment

Oil Field Jobs -4 Main Problems with Oil Field & Oil Rig Employment

4 Main Problems with Oil Field & Oil Rig Employment

Oil Field Jobs -What do you think about when you hear about oil field & Oil Rig employment? Is it the high salary and bonuses? The opportunities for travel? That you only have to work for half of the year? But before you jump in the deep end with both feet, you should remember that there is no free lunch. Here are four big problems with an oilfield job & Oil rig jobs.

1. Lousy Hours:
Jobs in oil field have lousy hours. You have to work shifts, and each shift lasts 12 hours. Woe betides you if you get assigned the night shift. Besides that, there are no weekends off, especially working in an offshore oil field& oil Rig. For most oil field jobs, that's 2 weeks of work, 12 hours a day, before you get a break. This is not a schedule for the week of mind.

2. Marriage Breakups:
Marriage breakups are common for workers in oilfield jobs & Oil Rig jobs. Many women still expect their husbands to return home in the evening after work, and to be around the house during the weekends. Unless they have fathers and brothers who also work in oilfield jobs, or live in a community of oil workers, the strain of handling jealous gossiping neighbors finally poisons their relationships.

3. Danger:
An oil field job & Oil Rig pays you double the salary of many other industries. Why? Because working on an oil well is dangerous compared to working in a factory or warehouse. There is the fact that the drilling rig could blow up, or the offshore oil platform could collapse or sink, not to mention that they are often popular terrorist targets, as oil workers in Third World countries can testify. The extra money you earn is not a windfall, it is risk pay.

4. Inhospitable Environments:
Oil field & Oil Rig employment is usually found in places with particularly inhospitable environments - Alaska, north Canada, Siberia, the deep oceans, various Arabian and African deserts. You can't expect to find oil in your own backyard anymore - easy finds like the Texas oil wells no longer exist. When working an oilfield job & oil rig, you need to deal with sub-zero temperatures, gale-force winds, ice, snow, poisonous snakes and wild animals.

Oil field & Oil Rig jobs employment is not all roses. The perks you get are best considered risk pay, and compensation for the risks you take. But for a man strong enough to stick it out, an oilfield job can be satisfying - a man doing a job the boys can't handle.
No Experience that Get an Oil Rig Job

No Experience that Get an Oil Rig Job

No Experience that Get an Oil Rig Job

Oil Rig Jobs-Are you laid off and don't know where to turn? Do you keep getting turned down for jobs because you don't have any special training? Are you not the type of human being to go to college but still want to make a good living? Oil rigs jobs are hiring. In fact there are more oil rig jobs than there are applicant, if you know where to look.

Did you know that most of the big oil companies don't do the actual drilling for oil themselves? They hire private contractors like Haliburton to actually do the work. That's the fault most people make when applying for oil rig jobs. They apply at the wrong companies. Big companies like Alberta oil careers may have online applications, but they rarely have entry level positions because those positions are employed by the contractors.

So how do you find the contractors who hire the oil rig workers? You can spend hours doing research on the Internet but still won’t know if the companies you come up with are hiring. Then you'll have to contact them one-by-one to see if they have any job openings. Some people will actually call the companies but most will send an email and lie to themselves that they really have tried to find a job. Most of the companies you come up with probably won't have oil field jobs for workers with no experience because you'll most likely be thinking of only the big companies. Remember, the actual work on the rig is done by contractors. If you can't find them, you'll be wasting your time. Probably the only thing you will accomplish is to become more frustrated than you already are.

So here is a basic formula for finding your first job on an oil rig. There are various general employment sites on the Internet that have job listings. Companies pay a fee of about $100 per week to list their job openings for 14 days. Or they can pay $650 to search resumes of people looking for work. The problem is you will be challenging with thousands of people from all over the world who also use the website. But more than that, an entry level general laborer position doesn't have a lot of requirements beyond being in good physical condition. Why would a company pay over $500 to find general laborers?
The answer is they won't. They wait for people to call them?

There are employment websites that specialize in oil rig work. They will allow you to post your resume for free. They also charge companies for access to their resume database.
